Course Overview

The aim of this course is to raise awareness of the hazards when working at height (WAH) within the workplace not only the risk of falling but also being struck by objects.

Understanding the principles of collective and personal protection and their use in the planning and subsequent selection of equipment for WAH operations.

The course is evenly divided into classroom and practical demonstrations. Delegates should be physically fit to undertake ascending and descending a vertical ladder and should be comfortable being at a place of height.

  • The planning process
  • Equipment selection
  • Testing and recording of equipment
  • Employer and Employee responsibilities when WAH
  • Fragile surfaces (including roofs)
  • Ladders and step ladders
  • Scaffolding
  • Rescue overview

  • Photo ID

Standard

The course is delivered utilising BS 8454:2006.
