Course Overview
The aim & objective of this course is to provide the delegate with a basic understanding of the safe and correct operation and maintenance of common types of mechanical pumps used in the oilfield.
Structure
- Follow and apply relevant Health & Safety procedures & controls required prior to commencing any work
- Become familiar with the operation of the types of pumps commonly used by the oil industry
- Their applications, including use in other proprietary oil field skid units
- Correct operation of pump, suction & discharge piping lining up
- Troubleshooting, warning signs of premature failure, measures needed to effect repair
- How to carry out pre-inspections, perform routine preventive maintenance utilising checklists & correct start/stop of the equipment
- Set machine to function efficiently by monitoring any instrumentation, valves and/or gauges
- Understanding of various drive systems, fixed and variable speed
- Complete practical disassembly & assembly of specific pumps for maintenance
- Demonstrate competence in the performance of strip down maintenance on various pump types simulating the repair and replacement of parts
- Multi choice test and practical assessment
Prerequisites
- Photo ID
- PPE to include hard hat with chin strap, safety glasses, coveralls, gloves and boots
Certification
A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion.
